Trip to Pinehurst - October 27 - 30, 2011
Our annual trip for 2011 will be to Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina. We will be traveling with Members from Green Hill Yacht & Country Club and Sussex Pines Country Club. Package Includes:
PINEHURST #2 - Pinehurst, NC – Walk in the footsteps of the legends and hear the Village Church bells that calmed Payne Stewarts nerves … this is truly holy ground of American golf. With the new renovations by Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore, which brings #2 back to it’s Donald Ross roots, this is even more a classic, strategic layout that tests both the long and short game. Ranked #17 in the world, it is site of more championships than any other course in the country, including the 1999 (Payne Stewart) and 2005 (Michael Campbell) U.S. Opens (again in 2014), and the 2008 US Amateur, plus the annual North & South Championship won by most of the legends of golf (Nicklaus, Hogan, Snead, Jones etc). Highly recommended to walk with a caddy to maximize the experience (carts must stay on paths). WWG Grade: A+
PINEHURST #8 – Pinehurst, NC (Par 72 – Gold 7092 yards) No. 8 opened in 1996 to commemorate Pinehurst's centennial year, and with its own clubhouse, it’s like a private club at the resort. A contender for world top 100 status, the course reminds a bit of Augusta and a bit of Spyglass. The greens and tees are close together, making it a pleasure to walk. As the site of the PGA Club Pro Championship in 1997 and 1998, it is a proven championship course that daunts and delights all who play it. Located approximately 2 miles from the Main Clubhouse (free shuttles) at the site of the former Gun Club, it is a celebration of a century of great golf. WWG Grade: A+
PINE NEEDLES GC – Southern Pines, NC (Par 71 – 7015 yards) The Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club is a country club in Southern Pines, North Carolina. The club hosted the U.S. Women's Open in 1996, 2001, and 2007, won by Annika Sörenstam, Karrie Webb, and Cristie Kerr, respectively. The Donald Ross course was renovated by John Fought, and is among the USGA’s favorite sites for a major championship. Home of Peggy Kirk Bell, among the most famous lady golfers of all time, and legendary teacher. WWG Grade: A
THE LEGACY GC – Aberdeen, NC
(Par 72 – 7018 yards) Jack and Jack Jr Nicklaus co-design near Pinehurst, big and beautiful, and probably the “most playable” of all Nicklaus designs. Ranked in the USA “Top 50 you can play” and know for immaculate conditioning, The Legacy will certainly live up to it’s name. WWG Grade: A
- 3 nights at Pinehurst Resort Manor Inn, double occupancy with 2 beds per room.
- 4 rounds of golf with cart at Pinehurst #8, The Legacy, Pine Needels, and Pinehurst #2.
- Unlimited use of range, Pinehurst Gift, fitness center, in room internet, bell gratuities, valet parking.
- Daily breakfast in the hotel, resort service charges in lieu of tips, and all taxes.
